Modifying a Role

You can modify Prospero Roles as needed to manage the name or permissions.

To modify a Role:

1.  Select the Security bar on the Prospero Navigation Pane.

2.  Open the User Definition workspace using the User Definition icon

3.  Select the role from the User Definition tree hierarchy to open the workspace.

4.  Assign modified permissions as necessary.

5.  After making your changes, close the workspace by clicking on the X next the name on the role tab.

6.  When prompted, save your changes.

Any role created by an Administrator can have its permissions modified by them or any other Administrative role. For more information, see the topic Prospero Security Permissions. Only the Administrator and Unassigned roles cannot have their permissions modified. However, any user who has permission to Administer Security may not grant themselves more permissions than they have been granted. In short, users may not modify permissions on the Role to which they belong.

To rename a Role:

1.  Select the role from the User Definition tree hierarchy.

2.  Click on the Rename option on the Security Tools Security context ribbon or right-click and select the Rename option from the pop-up menu.

3.  In the Rename dialog, enter the new name.

4.  Select the OK button to confirm the change.

All Prospero default and user-defined roles – with the exception of the Unassigned role - can be renamed to more closely align with the terminology of your organization.
